Today’s master shower design quick tip is easily achievable even for the most novice designer!
We wanted to share an easy, and inexpensive, way to break up your master shower tile to add variety, movement, texture, and that “wow” factor. Here are 3 easy steps to a beautiful master shower:
1. You really only need 2-3 materials to accomplish that variety and texture you’re going for in your shower. Some people often think that they need all sorts of variation in their materials but we believe less is more. The areas you want to focus on differentiating the material would be the walls and the flooring.
2. Alternate the direction of the tiles on your shower wall. If you are opting for two materials (floor and wall) simply place the tile in a herringbone pattern on the walls to create that movement. If you add an accent on the walls you could opt for herringbone on one portion and a standard layout on the other as depicted in the photo here. If you’re trying to minimize the labor and cost on the 3rd material you can opt to only add it in a niche. This breaks up the main wall pattern while keeping things simple, clean, and elegant.
3. Select a flooring pattern that is different in shape, color (but not too different in color), and provides a nice transition from your actual flooring to the shower flooring.
By following these super simple guidelines we believe you’ll design a shower you’ll love. Another fun way to make it different is by eliminating the shower door altogether. This opens up your space and allows you to see the beautiful tile work you’ve just selected!
